Background
- Interleukin 12 (IL12) is an important cytokine produced by a variety of immune effector cells that leads to a type 1 helper T cell (Th1) response. IL12 also directs T cells to the skin via induction of cutaneous lymphocyte antigen (CLA) expression. Interleukin 12 is a heterodimeric cytokine (p70), composed of two covalently linked subunits, p35 and p40 and is secreted primarily by activated B cells.Synonyms: CLMF p35, Cytotoxic lymphocyte maturation factor 35 kDa subunit, IL-12 subunit p35, IL-12A, NK cell stimulatory factor chain 1, NKSF1
